Companies are being prosecuted for incorrect payment of wages |

The Director of a company that was previously fined $15,840 for underpayment of wages to an employee has now been given a criminal conviction. The company failed to comply with three notices to produce information issued by Workplace Ombudsman inspectors during their underpayment investigation. The maximum penalty for breaching the provision is six months gaol. The Workplace Ombudsman had previously recovered $7,509 in underpayments from the company on behalf of a truck driver
