Unguarded machine results in $11,000 fine
A furniture maker has been fined $11,000 after an employee's finger was amputated on an unguarded machine.

The worker was removing off-cuts out of view of an operator who was fixing an error on the machine. When the machine restarted, her hand was drawn into it, amputating part of her right index finger and causing other lacerations.
