The Easter & Anzac Day public holidays are coming up in April and again there are some state differences.
The national public holidays over this period are:
- Good Friday - Friday 6th April
- Easter Monday - Monday 9th April
- Anzac Day- Saturday 25th April
NSW and Victoria are the only states that recoginse Easter Sunday (8th April) as a public holiday this year.
25th April is a nationally recognised public holiday commemorating Anzac Day which falls on Saturday this year. WA is the only state to recognise an additional public holiday for Anzac Day on Monday 27th April.
Don't forget to check your Modern Awards for the relevant penalty rates that apply to working on public holidays!
The Easter break is a good opportunity for employers to encourage staff to reduce their leave balances by taking an extra day or two in conjunction with the public holidays.
