Which days are public holidays in your state in April 2014?
The Easter public holidays are coming up mid April and again there are some state differences.
The national public holidays over this period are:
- Good Friday - Friday 18th April
- Easter Saturday - Saturday 19th April
- Easter Monday - Monday 21st April.
NSW is the only state that also recognises Easter Sunday (20th April) as a public holiday.
25th April is a nationally recognised public holiday commemorating Anzac Day which falls on a Friday this year, very close to Easter and in some states in the school holiday period.
Don't forget to check your Modern Awards for the relevant penalty rates that apply to working on public holidays!
With Easter and the Anzac holiday so close together it's is good opportunity for employers to encourage staff to reduce their leave balances by taking an extra day or two in conjunction with the public holidays.
Check our website for all your state specific public holidays to ensure you have observed these correctly.
